Cubs right-hander Carlos Zambrano has spoken to new Marlins skipper Ozzie Guillen about joining him in South Florida.

The two recently spoke on the phone, according to a report.

The report cited Felix Luzon, a friend of Zambrano's who was present during the call.

Luzon says that nothing is official but a deal could be reached where the Cubs cut the 30-year-old loose and give him the $18 million that he is owed in deferred payments.

Very interesting news coming out of Chicago. So do the Cubs trade him? Or do they just cut him and let him head to Florida? I think he'd be a very good fit with Ozzie in Florida. That being said, do you guys think he'd pitch well, or would he be just the disappointment he's been with the Cubs the last few years?

cubs will just release him and he'll sign there

where else would he go honestly?

Javier Vasquez will retire, they need a SP, Ozzie is there
makes too much sense
