As @daldridgetnt reported, Wall agreed to a three-year, $170M extension. Deal begins in 2019.

John Wall's extension includes a fourth-year player option and a 15 percent trade kicker, league source tells ESPN.

or it was done intentionally because now John Wall can agree to the DPVE extension because he made all-nba this past year, and he might not in a year or two and then loses its eligibility. so he'll get 35% of the cap, which gives him $206,577,650 over six years, rather than $182,385,650 over six years on a max without the DPVE.

Rather than Wall lose out on $24M, they let him re-sign so he can get his DPVE and then still go to the Cavs

Well now I got my hopes up, I highly doubt it though. No reason for the Wizards to do this. Rich Paul isn't powerful enough for teams to be doing favours for them yet. And he wouldn't be able to be traded until mid December, right?
