Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the news, confirmed by CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports it's a two-year contract for Griffin. It comes at an interesting time, with Browns coach Hue Jackson busy watching Carson Wentz perform at the North Dakota State pro day. Cleveland holds the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and most people believe they'll take a quarterback there.

“We are excited about Robert joining the Cleveland Browns,†Jackson said. “He brings starting experience to our team and organization. He's a young, athletic, talented passer and he's really just starting out in this league. Just like every player on our team, Robert will have to earn every opportunity he gets. He will compete with the rest of the quarterbacks on our roster and he helps improve our QB room, which was one of my goals upon taking the job. It's a special room and we want to put special people and players in that room. We are looking forward to working with Robert, as well as the rest of the quarterbacks on our roster.

This will end up being quite interesting.

RGIII desperately needed to sign with a team that needed a QB, besides the Browns.

Read much about RGIII being the right fit for the Broncos. Their coaching, scheme, and the defensive support... Shame his career will end in Cleveland. The Browns cannot support RGIII, nor can they afford a reclamation project. Cleveland needs to start taking this winning thing a little serious.

Very curious to see what Pep Hamilton and Hue Jackson can do with RG3. I would really like to see it work out for both sides

Really like the move for the Browns. I think RG3 has some talent left in the tank and Hue is the QB whisperer so he should be able to get some nice run out of him. Also frees up our pick for the draft so that it won't be a "consensus" QB at #2 when one might not necessarily deserve to be taken that high. Opens up the window for getting a QB.

Really wanted to see him end up in Denver. But excited to see how he does with the Browns and if he's capable of pre-injury production
