The New York Post is reporting that the Yankees have placed catcher Jorge Posada and starting pitcher A.J. Burnett on waivers.

New York reliever Rafael Soriano has also been put on waivers, according to the report.

All three are priced high enough that it's unlikely they'll be claimed. None of the three seem to be that appealing in a trade for another team, either.
Real unlikely any is claimed.

I don't doubt that they were put on waivers. It's just protocol. No one will claim them, and they probably wont get traded, but the Yankees are keeping their options open.

Almost every team does this every year, not really big news.

i think the only reason why this is new worthy is because is jorge and people made a big fuss about how they brought in cc and aj for the money. so people are talking about this for those two reasons, money spent on aj and the fact jorge is out there.

but this happens with every team, every season. nothing major.

Every team has to put somebody from the MLB roster on waivers, IIRC.

They dont have to do anything with them, tho

Posada is done.. Not sure why he still plays. Call up Montero and have him be the every day DH.

I'm pretty sure his contract is up after this year.

Just about every Yankee fan is wondering why Montero is still in AAA. I do know that they don't want Montero to be a DH.
