Lions acquired DE Lawrence Jackson from the Seahawks in exchange for an undisclosed 2011 draft pick.
The disappointing 2008 first-rounder had lost his starting spot to Red Bryant, and he's now lost his roster spot to the player drafted one spot behind him (Kentwan Balmer). It was clear that Jackson was on the outs with the new coaching staff. Though he adds even more talent to an improved Lions defensive front, it's still not clear if he can actually play. Jared DeVries' roster spot is now in jeopardy. Aug. 18 - 2:50 pm et

Nice snag for the Detroit Lions. This adds another guy with potential to an already loaded defensive line. I like this move a lot for them, he just needs to pan out.

No guarantee he'll pan out, but good move he could be good.

Certainly a nice depth piece.
If he pans out he can become the starter over Avril, or eventually replace Vanden Bosch down the line.
