Ryan Howard has indeed been diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon and will undergo offseason surgery.
Howard suffered the injury on the final play of Friday night's crushing NLDS Game 5 loss to the Cardinals. He's likely to miss the entire first half of the 2012 season, and could even be out the entire year. It's a major blow to the Phillies, who owe him $125 million over the next five seasons.

I wonder how long he is going to be out for. This is a major loss to the Phillies considering that their offense isnt what it once was. And Howard is just starting out on that big contract. His numbers have also steadily declined, not a good sign for that team.

phillies were really stupid signing him to that contract last year

they didnt have to sign him until tihs offseason, he's vastly overpaid now, and they could have gone after pujols or prince

and im not saying that because of the injury

it will hurt, but they will be ok
mayberry is very good
