He's had two years back to back where he's been putting up great numbers, how good is he really? Last year he competed for the triple-crown, and while he's had good numbers this season, he's also dropped him home-run numbers.
I'm not completely sold that he's as good as some people say he is. I think it's possible that he is a product of the ballpark he plays in. Not saying that's my thoughts, but I want to open this up to discussion.

Just how good is Joey Votto? Thoughts?

He's one of the best 1B in the game.

His road numbers are better than his home numbers, so that argument is stupid.

the power may be down from last year, but his OBP is money

higher on base this year
more walks already this year

HR's are fine. he still has a shot at 30 (22 this year)

he's great

and it's definitely not his ballpark

this year:
Home: .297/.412/.498/.909 11 HR
Road: .346/.460/.573/1.032 11 HR

2010:
Home: .297/.394/.556/.951 18 HR
Road: .349/.452/.641/1.093 19 HR

look at his L/R splits too
I think he is the most consistent player in baseball

Hitting with runners in scoring position isn't a skill. But Votto is still one of the best at first.

Watching Votto play all the time, his power numbers are down because pitchers throw around him a lot. In the past few weeks alone, he has hit opposite field home runs. Barely anyone throws inside, and rightfully so. His average is .322 while also having 22 Homeruns(still has a shot at 30 as someone said) and he's leading the league in walks, and by at least 10. His OBP is .436, which is second to Joey Bats and leading the NL by .016. His OPS is 4th in baseball,(3rd in NL) and he's still got a shot to have 100 RBI's. I think Votto doesn't get enough credit as is, so no I don't think he's as good, if not better than what people think he is.
