The Chicago Cubs have reportedly won the Jason Heyward sweepstakes.
Heyward will sign with the Cubs after being chased by several teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals, according to multiple reports.
The Cubs' winning offer is believed to be under the $200-million asking price Heyward was rumored to be seeking, sources tell Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Heyward, widely considered the top position player available this offseason, was being pursued aggressively by the Cardinals, but informed them he wouldn't be returning shortly before news broke of his decision.
