Chargers GM A.J. Smith met with unsigned restricted free agent LT Marcus McNeill at the team's practice facility on Wednesday.
While it's believed the visit produced "nothing tangible," it could be a sign that one the of the sides is budging. McNeill has skipped all spring and summer workouts in hopes of landing a new contract. Without him, the Chargers are sitting on the NFL's worst left tackle situation east of Buffalo. The meeting was reportedly requested by McNeill's side, but there's no question who has the leverage here. It's Philip Rivers' two-time Pro Bowl blindside protector. Aug. 18 - 9:06 pm et

It really isn't a sign of much, whether McNeill is going to sign or not, but regardless, this has to get done for the Chargers. This guy is a little bit overrated in my eyes, but a premier LT in the league, he helps that team so much in the passing game especially.

Every game of Rivers' career, McNeil has been there protecting his blindside... He needs him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chargers are "nowhere close" to getting holdout LT Marcus McNeill into camp despite Wednesday's face-to-face meeting with GM A.J. Smith.
McNeill isn't actually considered a "holdout" because he's not officially under contract, but it's all the same to us. The two-time Pro Bowler's visit to Chargers headquarters Wednesday obviously didn't do anything to end the stalemate. Philip Rivers' blind-side protection remains a major concern. The Bolts have again resorted to shuffling bodies at the left tackle position. It doesn't look like Brandyn Dombrowski will be the answer. Aug. 19 - 4:30 pm et
Good source in Schefter reporting this. Really not good news for the Chargers, they are gonna be a mess at LT.
