I haven't made a sig in forever. Just made the Kobe one below, lemme know what you guys would change. It was like a 15 min speed sig on a school computer, so I didn't mess with any text.

way too blurry. edges could be darkened up to make the focal pop more, but the lighting is really weak even though its right across the middle.

I like the whole concept as a starting-point!
(And no, the 76'ers logo in the corner is not a bad part, as you might think! It blends well with the other colors and symmetry in the idea.)
 
 
However, it is too much "noise", which makes the blurry idea fail.  
Too much noise + too light = not a good idea. Try to up the contrast!
 
Try to separate the different images/filters more.  ( For example, remove the ball on the right side is a start. )
I would try a "three section cut":
