idk how Liriano got $4M from us to be a 6th starter/Long man.
I've said for years and years that Liriano is overrated, but this is actually a great deal for him. At his best, or a career year, Liriano can impress.

Wasn't he terrible for Houston down the stretch last year? I guess the money doesn't matter since we aren't contending but I thought it was a weird fit.

Maybe so, but 4 million is nothing these days, especially if he has a career year. Low risk high reward type deal.

He might be better suited as a reliever at this point.

I'm not big on using the AL and NL as arguments, but if you look at Liriano, he has way better splits in the NL.

He wasnt very good in that role as an Astro. He walked wayyyyy too many batters. If he can find some control, he could be a bargain

Yeah I feel like that's always been a problem for him for sure, but given his stuff and ability to strike batters out (career 9 k/9), you might as well give it another shot and see what happens.

In fact, the Astros’ offensive component of fWAR was 161.8, which was not only more than twice as high as the second-spot Yankees (72.8), it ranks as the 7th-best offensive season out of 2,482 since 1901 when the modern era of baseball began.

Well....I am sure the addition of Stanton makes up for that 90ish fWAR that the Yankees need to catch up.

I dont expect the Astros to repeat last season's ridiculous numbers, but they are poised to be the best offense again in 2018.

Dodgers have too many players lol

Outfield of Toles, Joc, Puig, Taylor, Kiké, Kemp, Verdugo(our best position prospect and mlb ready)

Grandal and Barnes are both considered top 10 catchers. They can't both start

Oh well we have a hell of a bench and can absorb any injury. Good problems to have

I expect another division. Arizona is good but we're better

I don't know about Arizona. Last year with Martinez they had a better chance. Now I'm not so sure and their rotation isn't spectacular. I don't even list Greinke as a top 10.

I do agree Dodgers will take the division, I just don't think they are the best team in the NL. Their logjam could also be a bad thing.

Interesting thing with Arizona is their use of the humidor now. Should help pitchers but will not help thebir hitters obviously

Kyrie has great facial hair. I think he could grow a James

Id love to see Lebron go full beard instead of his skinny mustache

Facial hair is so crucial in baseball.
