I'm sure the Yankees decided that they can't afford to keep him on the field.  He is a liability with a glove and his bat has gone silent.  He was one of the best players during his era, but one has to wonder how much of his ability came out of a syringe.

He wasn't on the field anyway. 
 
I don't think that much of his ability came from a syringe. He had 33 HRs last year. He's 41, his body just can't handle it anymore.

That is the frustrating thing with A-Rod, and Bonds too. They clearly did not need steroids/PEDs, they were all-timers regardless. Sad

I'm tempted to grab tickets before they sell out...anyway, this was totally forced. He had no desire to really do this, and his emotions showed that. 2018 and beyond he'll make a great coach, and then manager (hello Seattle).
