We will be starting our 6th annual SI player rankings.

Don't be afraid to share your opinion, whether it's a popular one or not.  We will once again be going 10 spots deep at all 5 positions.

Please remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer.  Most of the polls will be open 24 hours, but if the first place vote getter gets 5 or more votes than the second vote getter than I will close the thread if I'm around.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.  Who would you take today?

I get why you guys are voting Andre, but DeAndre is a better basketball player than him.

Andre is a better rebounder, but that's about it.

I mean when we talk about a defending big, you want a guy who can defend at the rim, defend in the paint, can come out of the paint and defend if need be, not foul, and so on.

DeAndre is a better rim protector, he's a better paint defender, he's a better shot blocker, he can come out and switch and defend on the perimeter some, he does a better job at not fouling, he's a smarter defender, he's a more aware defender, and so on.  He's almost better across the board.

and even if you really dig into the rebounding, DeAndre is a better contested rebounder, pulling down more contested rebounds.  Meaning Andre gets more rebounds uncontested.

In no world is this true. Not that this an end all, but there's no way Drummond is positively impacting USA basketball like Jordan did.

There's a pretty clear case of homerism here, imo.

With today's NBA basically having centers being rebounders and defenders, the Horford isn't great by that measure. That's why he's starting at PF this year for the Celtics

But he's a great shooting big, and is a more talented basketball player than anyone voted after him.

He's a better defender than given credit for, incredibly smart.
