We will be starting our 4th annual SI player rankings.  Last year the player rankings generated 388 responses, that's less than 8 responses per thread.  I'm hoping this year we get above 500.  Don't be afraid to share your opinion, whether it's a popular one or not.  We will once again be going 10 spots deep at all 5 positions.

Please remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer.  Most of the polls will be open 24 hours, but if the first place vote getter gets 5 or more votes than the second vote getter than I will close the thread if I'm around.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.  Who would you take today?

I see that Monta Ellis has to votes. If he is a top 5 SG, does that mean Tyreke Evans is a top 5 SG???

Manu can't get no respect.
I mean don't get me wrong, the guy is a good player. At the very least he had the second best season of his career. But people look at his raw stats and see he averaged 19 and 6 and assume his impact on the game was as large as his raw stats are, and that isn't the case. I mean I'm really not trying to shit on the guy, but 4th overall? Come on. That's probably two to four spots too soon.

It's hard to make sense of THIS poll though.  These guys are all over the place, a lot of them are enigmas.  Reggie Miller isn't exactly on there.  And I can't disagree more about him having some inflated raw stats that distort his perceived value.  The guy's resume is incredibly thick and I trust him a whole lot more than anyone else on this poll because he has been a very good and consistent pro for a very long time.  Age is the only thing working against him, but since he's still producing at a high level, I'm not ready to pick someone like Klay Thompson over him.

Wade shouldn't have been voted 3 either. Just trying to keep up the legitimacy of the poll.

Oh fuck, I honestly thought you said Monta lol. My bad, apologies.

But yeah I'd take Manu over the majority of the guys on this poll, but his raw stats don't pop off the page so people don't vote for him.

He was my next pick after Stephenson.

Tyreke Evans has every bit of the impact on the game Ellis does.

And that says less for Ellis and not more for Evans.

Yeah, no. You definitely did not follow the Mavs enough last year; he was their 2nd  best player and one of the main reasons they won 49 games

I followed the Mavs enough, trust me. I get every one of their games televised.

I'm not sitting here saying Tyreke is an elite level SG. He has his deficiencies. But guess who else does? Monta Ellis.

I beg of you to actually look at both sides of the ball and how they impacted a game offensively and defensively for once.

You know what, let me try it this way. Why is Ellis on a different level than Tyreke?
