I would love to hear the rationale of Quintana ahead of Price, Lester, Arrieta, Tanaka, Hamels, Darvish, and Cueto.

Without looking at stats I'm just going to assume they're using WAR.

I will explain my vote happily.  I realize it may not follow whatever if any standards folks have on voting but let's make the argument.

Give me some time and I'll get it in here.  :)

Jake has a case for being the best pitcher these past 2 years except for Kershaw and Sale.

ok, so i looked at the following pitchers: Lester, Quintana, Arrieta, Tanaka, Hamels, Darvish, Cueto, Price, Fernandez, and Noah.  I used WAR/IP/ERA/FIP/XFIP to start.
When i looked at the rankings across the starters from 2013 to present I initially have it going Price, Jake, Lester, Cueto, Hamels, Q, Jose, Yu, Tanaka, and Thor.  Then I looked at the leagues they pitched in as well as 200 IP seasons during this time period and the rankings change a touch:  Price, Lester, Q, Jake, Hamels, Cueto, Fernandez, Darvish, Tanaka, Thor  Finally I look at salary and current performance.  The list goes for me Q, Jake, Lester, Cueto, Price, Fernandez, Darvish, Tanaka, Thor.

So that is how I got to Q.  Very consistent, getting better each season and will get Cy Young consideration this season.

Jake Arrieta is an animal but I don't understand how Lester isn't ahead of him in terms of 2016 rankings

I don't know how others vote but when I can't pick between two players because their numbers are very similar, I turn to their previous 1 or 2 years. That's why I voted Arrieta.

Im really confused why quintana when the only criteria won was salary. Salary isnt even a criteria when comparing who is better.
