Per rosenthal

Hope it isn't because of the severity of Brantley's injury

Yankees didnt want to tske his whole contract
And the mets didn't want to pay any of it so they gave him to Cleveland despite a better package of prospects from the yanks

Pathetic.

Odds are he would turn down a QO. So we would have gotten a better pick.

This reeks of a salary dump.

Great move for the Indians. Sounds more like the Mets were just sticking it to the Yankees because they were being shrewd in negotiations lol

Shrewd? They didn't want to pay all of his contract. But the Mets asked for two specific players and Cashman said yes.

It was all about money. They didn't even give the Yankees a chance to make a better offer. This was lazy. Don't defend the Wilpons.

And as GM, if you care at all about getting value back and improving the team's future, you don't stick it to another team by landing a 30th round relief pitching prospect.

The fit is much better in Cleveland than with the Yankees.  The Yankees have too many outfielders right now and have a serviceable 1B.  They were willing to take some of the contract, but not all of it.
Cleveland has some "iffy" outfielders right now and can use Bruce as their DH if everyone is healthy.

Yea I agree. I wouldve kept him as well. But on the bright side we have more money to spend but that wouldve happened anyways after the season. We need to restock the minors anyways since we just called up on top 2 prospects. All our position players were old and we need youth.

We need a new 3B, new 2B, new CF, and Darnaud isnt the answer (never played a full season).

I would keep Lagares as a gapholder and take the hit with his hitting for GG defense.

I would also trade Harvey just prior to the trade deadline next year. He wants to become a FA and he needs to prove that big deal he wants so next year is the key. Then trade him for a decent 3B/2B prospect.

The problem with Harvey is that he needs to show that he is healthy before any team will give up anything better than a B prospect for him.
