We will be starting our 4th annual SI player rankings.  Last year the player rankings generated 388 responses, that's less than 8 responses per thread.  I'm hoping this year we get above 500.  Don't be afraid to share your opinion, whether it's a popular one or not.  We will once again be going 10 spots deep at all 5 positions.

Please remember these two things, please vote on the polls and vote for the best player, don't be a homer.  Most of the polls will be open 24 hours, but if the first place vote getter gets 5 or more votes than the second vote getter than I will close the thread if I'm around.

Remember, this is based on who is currently the best player, not who has the potential to be the best.  Who would you take today?

Considered Kyrie, Bledsoe, Jrue, or Lawson.

Didn't go with Kyrie because he just doesn't play enough defense or improve his teammates enough.

Didn't go with Lawson because he's to undersized which hurts aspects of his game like his defense and rebounding.

Ultimately came down to Bledsoe and Jrue. Decided on Jrue because of his better ability to run an offense, something Bledsoe has yet to master. But it was close that I really don't like having to pick either or.

I went with Teague. But really it was a toss up between him a few others.

Someone will have to fill me in on Teague because I don't see it. I see a wildly unspectacular player.

Is it an overreaction of what he did in the playoffs?

I mean I'm not a big Kyrie fan, but I'd take Kyrie over Teague. As you can see in my earlier post Teague wasn't even one of the last four I considered.

Teague shows flashes. Hes not consistent enough to beat out the other guys left.

I said last offseason that there was significant concerns that Teague just didn't care about the Tuesday night game against the Bucks. He only really gets up for the big matchups. Which is obviously a concern, but that wording also makes it sound like he comes out swinging in those games. When the Hawks played Miami, Indiana, San Antonio, or Oklahoma City this season Teague averaged 14.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.3 turnovers on 42.5% shooting. All while playing less than stellar defense. In the playoffs he shot sub 40% and had a 1.7 ast/to ratio.

I don't know, I'm just disappointed nobody stepped up to give a reason as to why they voted for him. That's something I would like to hear, because maybe it would open my eyes up to something I'm missing. When I look at Jeff Teague, I see a guy that's not necessarily bad at anything, but he's not great at anything either. There's a couple things I wouldn't even call him good at.

He's average around the rim, he's average from midrange, he's average from three, his assist numbers are average, and he's not one of these guys that have low assist percentages but also have low turnover numbers. He's probably below average at taking care of the ball. He's not as skilled in the PnR(39% from the field, 18% turnover rate, 38% score rate) as Kyrie Irving (44% from the field, 14% turnover rate, 43% score rate) is, and he's not as skilled in iso situations (42% from the field, 11% turnover rate, 42% score rate) as Jrue Holiday (54% from the field, 10% turnover rate, 52% score rate) is. He's terrible at spotting up (sub 30% from the field, 30% from three) where as Jrue (46% from the field, 48% from three) is great. He doesn't most up nearly as much as Kyrie or Jrue do.

Then defensively there's just more meh. Again, doesn't set him self apart in any way. Average in iso situations, below average against ball screens, Teague is really good off the ball, I will give him that. Overall if I put he and Kyrie up next to each other defensively I would give Teague the edge, but neither are the bulldogs Jrue Holiday is.

I mean I don't know, I just see a lot of average things around Jeff Teague. Like I mentioned in my first post he's not even in the consideration for me. Jrue, Kyrie, Bledsoe, and Lawson are all better. I'd just really be interested in hearing from Teagz, Sal, and Rob as to why yall voted for him. Like I said maybe I'm missing something.

I thought it was a joke, why they picked Teague

I'd personally take every PG on this list, minus Rubio, over Teague, with Deron and Jennings being maybes.
