Los Angeles Times - The Angels have acquired Scott Kazmir from the Tampa Bay Rays for two minor leaguers.

The trade is expected to be announced later on Friday.

Kazmir is signed for $8 million next season and $12 million in 2011, with a club option for 2012 at $13.5 million. The Angels are expected to send left-hander Alex Torres and infielder Matt Sweeney to the Rays in exchange for Kazmir.

Gosh why are all these skilled pitchers getting waived and traded?

Kazmir has skill and he'll be useful in LA just watch

ANAHEIM -- A proposed trade that would have sent Rays left-hander Scott Kazmir to the Angels for a pair of prospects has fallen through.

Multiple reports had the Angels set to acquire Kazmir in a move aimed to bolster their beleaguered starting rotation.

The Rays were to get pitcher Alexander Torres and third baseman Matthew Sweeney in return.

Kazmir is 8-7 this season with a 5.92 ERA in 20 starts for the Rays.

I don't see why the Rays would give away Kazmir like that anyways

I'm glad this didn't happen though.
Salaray dump imo. Carl Crawford makes 10 million next year, so its either him or Kazmir and we all know who is more valuable to the Rays.....

+1, this is kind of surprising that the Rays are shopping some of their stars

Well they have a very young and talented roster as we saw last year. I thought they'd want to keep their core at least.

Well management runs the show so I can't say anything really lol

They will keep the young core they got, but Kamir isn't part of that. He's been injured for a while now anyways.

Yea, he's always injured. Another Harden and Ducsherer case right here in Kazmir..... A bunch of talent but cant see to stay on the field.

I was just reading about this before, didnt know it was a done deal though.

Im not sure whether its a good trade or not till I can find out their strengths and weaknesses, as well as age and talent. I mean, Kazmir is young but some people think he is on the decline, given his poor numbers this season while battling health issues. I hope not, it's still early and he can easily fix it but it doesn't look promising.

Yeah his numbers don't look too good this year, maybe he's just not meant to be a good pitcher, if he ends up in LA, I hope he proves me wrong.

The Rays are a small market team.. and when I say small market I mean in the serve small market. They can't afford to keep all their players.

He'll be good in LA if he's healthy. I think this "decline" is due to him getting injured.

Kazmir is in the first year of a multi-million dollar contract. he has over a 5 era this year, and the Rays have Niemann doing well, along with a stud in the minors they want to bring up, Wade Davis.

kinda surprised myself - he went to HS down the road from me. kinda sux

Steal for the Angels. But I think it was smart for TB. They'll need to lock up some of their guys and Kazmir wasn't doing spectacular and he had a nice hefty contract.
