Maybe a dumb idea, but what about Irving for Deandre?

Clippers wouldn't have to pay DJ and Cleveland gets a valuable elite defender. Then try to trade Thompson for a guard.

if they already have a trade for TT ready then its not awful for them. but you cant trade for deandre and then try to trade tristan

For real though, are they going to get even close to the value of Deandre in return?

Clippers get: Tristan, Shump, 2-3 unprotected picks (including the '18 NYK 1st)
 
Clippers could use to get another piece in the deal but its close enough lol

Call me crazy I guess, but I'd rather have Tristan on his $52M remaining over three years than pay Deandre $22M this year and then be pidgeonholed into giving him a $207M supermax the following year

Why is the NBA considering expansion? The league is crazy diluted as is. Nobody cares about 20 teams in the league at a time. Cali doesn't need 4 teams, people only care about 2 of them. Send the Clippers to Seattle and call it a day. Nobody in LA will lose any sleep
