#WWE Releases Official Statement Concerning “Viral Infection”

“We have confirmed that three of our performers Roman Reigns, Bo Dallas, and Bray Wyatt have been diagnosed with a viral infection. As a precautionary measure, we are ensuring in-ring performers and staff are tested and immunized in accordance with recommended medical guidelines.”

Per a report from Wrestling Inc., the illness affecting the WWE locker room is the mumps. WINC. describes the illness as the following:

 

“Mumps is an airborne virus that can be spread by saliva or utensils – even plates or cups – with an infected person. It can also be spread by coughing or sneezing. Symptoms usually take 16-18 days to appear. It then usually takes several days to a week to disappear.”
 
WWE had been testing RAW talents for Viral Meningitis, however, it was later discovered that the illness was the mumps. No word yet on if more changes will be made to TLC since the outbreak. There is also no news on whether or not SmackDown Live talent is being tested as well. More to come…..

Reports now say Reigns, Bo Dallas, and Bray Wyatt have the mumps will be re-evaluated next week at Raw. The rest of the locker room got their shots on Thursday to prevent further infection. Dave Meltzer said there is still a fear within the company that more superstars could contract the illness.   WWE had initially tested some talent for meningitis, and discovered that the illness is believed to now be the mumps. Mumps symptoms usually take 16-18 days to appear and then the infection usually takes several weeks to disappear. It is unclear how much time is needed to completely recover from an illness like that in order to be deemed fit to compete in the ring
