Do the Patriots have a backup QB on the roster?
Rex Burkhead, maybe?

in terms of an actual quarterback, theyll probably sign Taylor Heinicke

Pats will have a long run in obscurity after Brady retires. College just isn’t churning out the Type of QBs the NFL is after and the league is showing no signs of deviating to better suit the Lamar Jackson’s of the game.

This is a huge cap hit for the Niners come the offseason. I know Jimmy G has showed some promise but that was in NE and SF obviously is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Could be a genius move by John Lynch...and it could be Osweiler 2.0

San Fran can give Garoppolo $30M/yr and theyd still have like $25M in cap space

They still have to build a quality team around him, but I don't disagree with the move. Like I said before, the number of quality QBs that fit the NFL mold has significantly downsized over the years. I also think Lynch is right to trust in his HC on this one. Shanny made RGIII into a legit NFL QB for a year. The Niners don't make the move without an agreement to lock up Jimmy long term and without a lot of confidence from Shanahan.

And Hoyer was cut to make roster space. There's Brady's next backup, again.

Man he's taking this trade hard.

Do we know anything about how good he actually is? Like there's no way BB trades him if he's as great as some people think he is, right?

just cant type well on my phone lol, and i was probably half asleep. honestly dont remember typing that lol, but wasnt drunk lol

its likely to avoid the franchise tag. one would like to think that Garoppolo is looking for starter money, not star quarterback money.

tyrod, glennon, dalton, bortles, tannehill, alex smith, etc all make an average of $16-20M per year. by trading for him now, you get him at $450K and can get him into an advantageous contract for your team. If you wait for the offseason, now youre trading for him with a $24.5M salary, much harder to try to get him to play for $18M now.

If Bill doesnt think Bradys done any time soon, it doesnt make sense to pay Garoppolo minimally $16M/yr (Glennon money) to be the second highest paid player on the team. its easier to gain value by trading him now than it is after youve tagged him. #33-34 overall is as about of a good value for Jimmy as youll get

Hopefully he flops and the Niners get stuck with Cousins this offseason.
