The Golden Gophers have landed a coaching coup by hiring Coach Pitino to rebuild their program... Wait, you mean this isn't Rick Pitino but his son? Well crap, moving on...
Needless to say this is an interesting hire to bring in a guy that has what appears to be a grand total of one year of head coaching experience. I am curious what number of option he was on the list when everyone else didn't express a great deal of interest in the job. This is an interesting gamble to say the least and I am very sad that the Gophers got rid of Tubby Smith (why, because Texas Tech went and hired him. My excitement level on that hire is rather low.)
