How I plan to make it work is that I combine the static factor that is happiness with factors such as team success and play time (maybe usage rate) and keep it all on a 0-100 scale. Then depending how happy they are there is xx% chance that a player is unhappy enough to want to leave. If a player is unhappy enough to want to leave then the offer from their current team will be reduced by a factor so that a non-bird max ends up beating the bird max.

 

So a player unhappy enough would close the gap between the bird and non-bird max. But it's not a guarantee that player leaves the team, it would only be for that kind of difference in the deal.

 

As we've seen in the NBA, players who don't like their teams simply will leave in free agency to the best option out there that can offer them the money. This is what this factor would do.

what about injured players ? How will we ensure that teams don't get screwed cuz a player was injured and it reduced his games played / happiness? Will it just be minutes per game instead of games played or what

couldnt u just start an expiring player (that you want to re-sign) for a full sim, then just not play him at all rest of the season so that his usage rate is very high even if it was for 1 sim? seems easy to manipulate

I mean the way I'm going to implement it, it's going to be on top of what's already there so like I explained it's going to simply create like a 5% chance for example the player wants to leave and I haven't figured out the exact number but it takes away the difference between the full max and the regular max essentially.

All I'm going to do is percentile usage rate, (win rating, prior season success & playoff success), and then the fbb's happiness which doesn't change, combine the three because they'd all be on a 1-100 scale, and that's happiness essentially.

I'd wanna see some tests run on it first, seems like a risky change to make 15 years in. Probably more of a thing to implement at the start of next league

As I mentioned in GroupMe when you first brought it up, I don't like that the FBB one can't change at all. You can have a rookie drafted and win the championship his first five seasons in a row and dominate and he could still have like 8 happiness or something like that. And I don't feel comfortable assigning an arbitrary number to "adjust" for his happiness because I don't see how those can be accurately determined across the board.

I like the principal of the idea and the idea in general, but I don't think that we can properly include it and make sure that it's accurate.
