So apparently the Jays will begin to sell of assets. Cardinals got interest in JD.

Stroman to the Cubs has a nice ring to it. Really want Stroman and/or Gray.

Could trade Schwarber, prospects, Russell/Baez and land 2-3 really good young SPs. Hopefully they can get at least 1 at the deadline. Mix in the return of Hendricks and the team might catch fire

The Cubs should have traded Baez immediately after the playoffs. Dude is not good, has so many holes in his swing. One more year of this and he'll be worth next to nothing

Stroman has 3 years of control left, dependable, and only 26 years old. you could do a lot worse than him.

Could be applied to Schwarber as well

I didn't realize this is the 4th season that Baez has seen major league time. It looks like he's shown more power this year, but if he's ever gonna be an above average hitter he needs to walk more. His glove is always gonna up his value though.

With the way he's pitching right now, I'm not sure why anyone would want him.

Thank you. I agree, Stroman is overrated.

That being said, he may be good for the Cubs.

in a deal for Stroman the Cubs are going to have to part with Eloy and their top two pitching specs and possibly two 50 value specs

I don't think he's worth that much. Stroman is a #2 or #3 pitcher at best on a good team.

I don't think he's going anywhere this season anyways. They'd trade Estrada, Happ and Liriano before Stro or even Sanchez.

I agree. I can see Liriano moving first, but who really wants him?

A's want two prospects for Sonny Gray. The return on Stroman wouldn't be that much more than Sonny. Stroman only has one more year of control.
I have no problem trading pitching prospects to land a pitcher under the age of 27 who would be a staple in the rotation for the the 5 years in which the Cubs would be contenders. That's what you hope your prospects turn into.

He can pitch in the bullpen as a long man or spot start here in there in case of injuries. He's a shell of his former self obviously but he's an okay depth guy.
