Joel Sherman suggests that a player get 2 runs for a homer that is longer than the top 50 longest homers from the last season.

Also, a courtesy runner, as was allowed until 1950.  A player can be the designated runner and run for a player without removing that player from the game.

These are just so overly drastic changes that have been suggested, and theyre all terrible

Just tell the damn pitchers that once theyre on the mound, they have to throw. When a batter steps into the box, they have to hit. Stop the bullshit of stepping off the mount/out of the box and just play the damn game

I hope Joel was drunk when he came up with that, because it's just awful.

I like baseball. Leave it the fuck alone.

Edit: I would at least be willing to see a designated runner tried out on an all-star game or spring training. Maybe make it a 9th inning and extras. Each team gets 1,and that runner can't be used again as a fielder or pinch hitter.

But the other idea is just trying to be "edgy", and changing something that doesn't need to be changed. It doesn't make the game more exciting.

Courtesy runner would suck going up against a great team like houston

They could let someone speedy run for mccann. That lineup never ends as it is, imagine them with more help

You should be forced to have a position player pitch for an inning each game

Each team has a designated old man, who must be over 60, and must bat once per game before the 7th inning

If you have 3 hits in the game, you get to hit off a tee on your next at bat

If a fan in the crowd makes a diving catch, you take away a run from the road team

If a fan drops a ball, you take a run away from the home team

Every team must have some type of race during the game (hot dogs, presidents, anything that involves people running in ridiculous costumes), or they will be fined

I have more ideas

If the game is tied after 9 innings, both managers write down how much they will donate to charity. Highest number wins.

Nothing short of turning it into slow pitch softball will significantly speed up MLB games.

Outrageous costs associated with going to a game are why ppl would rather watch from home.

But, I will say changes to the HR Derby, Players Weekend, and a greater potential for 2-way players is garnering a lot of interest from fans.

I go to a met game and before the game even starts I've been asked by 3 different people to fill out a survey.

Fan experience survey?  I haven't been hit with any of those.  Biggest problem in Cincinnati is the team doesn't win.  The Reds do an excellent job with affordable tickets, giveaways, and the kid's section is pretty rad.  Yes, at my age and family situation, I have to judge ballparks based on their kids section.

Mets haven't won either.

Then you really need to take in a game in Chicago for the White Sox.  What they do for kids is spectacular.  I'd put Miller Park up there too.
