The Dolphins were so sold on Josh McCown this offseason, they signed him for 2 years and gave him a $2.4 million signing bonus. Chad Henne in the 2nd round and a trade reeling in Chad Pennington later...and the Dolphins suddenly didn't see anymore value in the guy.

The Miami Dolphins have traded McCown to the Carolina Panthers, in a deal that still has undisclosed terms.

Primary backup to Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, went down Thursday night with a leg injury. Although x-rays were negative on Moore's injury, the Panthers seem to be seeking more of a sure-fire back up. The Panthers were one of the teams interested in McCown's services this offseason.

It was no secret that the Dolphins were shopping both McCown and 2nd year man, John Beck, following the addition of Pennington. The trade now leaves 2007 1st round pick, Beck, as the #3 quarterback on Miami's depth chart. -AE
