The NCAA has hit Penn State with a $60 million sanction, a four-year football postseason ban and a vacation of all wins dating to 1998, the organization announced Monday morning in a news release.

"These funds must be paid into an endowment for external programs preventing child sexual abuse or assisting victims and may not be used to fund such programs at the university," the statement said.

The career record of former head football coach Joe Paterno will reflect these vacated records, the statement continued.

Penn State must also reduce 10 initial and 20 total scholarships each year for a four-year period, the release said.

Holy shit, that's 111 wins that they vacated.

JoePa is no longer the all-time winningest couch in college football

They should have just fined the school and vacated Paterno's wins. The worst they should have done was put a TV ban on Penn State games, but the NCAA would lose too much money on that so I doubt they considered it.

WTF?!? Why punish the 70 young men who had absolutely nothing to do with the scandal?!

They're allowing everyone that is currently enrolled at Penn State to transfer anywhere they choose with immediate eligibility.

Oh well.

The Bowl Ban is indeed stupid though.

Damn Idk how Penn State will recover from this. This was too severe of a penalty for Penn State.

I have a hard time feeling any sympathy for them to be honest. Maybe some fans and the players currently. But other than that, fuck em honestly.

nah not really
Yes it was, this penalty isnt going to affect the program 4 years, it will have ramifications for 7-8 years down the road. This penalty is a bigger blow to the players and it extends too far to other programs of the school. Its worse than the death penalty.

Aside from those protecting JoePa in this. So most fans and students excluded, from me at least.
