Some jackass for the Wall Street Journal is today making the argument that Derek Jeter should be the AL MVP this year. Naturally, said idiot forgets that Jeter's sudden resurgence probably has something to do with the Yankees playing in a wind tunnel.

And don't even get me started on Teixeira. Did you know Joe Mauer's batting average is higher than Teixeira's on base percentage?

See, there's no rational way Joe Mauer isn't the AL MVP. Anyone who doesn't vote for him is, frankly, an idiot. He leads in every possible statsitical category you can imagine for being an MVP, and he blows away Jeter and Tex in multiple categories, all while playing the toughest position in baseball (catcher).

A bunch of fools out there are trying to make some case that because Jeter is playing on the best team in baseball and is having a fine year, he deserves some kind of lifetime achievement award (even though he isn't the best player on his own team).

I'm being dead serious about this: If Joe Mauer doesn't win the AL MVP award this year, I will never watch baseball again. And every writer who didn't vote for him, I'll burn down his house.

Mauer missed a month which greatly enhanced his BA. Jeter has been better and more valuable in nearly every aspect of the game and Teixeira has been an absolute monster this year. I know all of you are jealous now that we've turned into the dominating team that consistently goes on long winning streaks and have no glaring weakness, but the kleenex can be found in aisle 4 for all of you haters. Jeter or Tex for AL MVP 09 and case closed.

EDIT: The AL Central is a complete and utter joke, the Rays would be leading that division if they were in it. I wish we got to face the Tigers, Indians, White Sox and Royals as often as Mauer does.
