Love it.  I just hope the Pistons will also play in it eventually.

Joe Louis Arena used to be in a cool place when Tigers Stadium was in Corktown.

Since then, the Lions moved to Detroit and Ford Field, Comerica Park and all of the casinos were built in the same cluster.  Then the Joe was then kind of in a weird spot back in the corner by the river.

Speaking of Corktown, raise your hand if you're a metro-Detroiter who has gotten a trespassing ticket for climbing up the old train station while you were drunk.  I think more than 50% of us have.

Being outside almost looks more fun than being in the arena. I almost think I would prefer to be outside in the 'Party In The Plaza' that the Sabres do whenever we're in the playoffs. Game on the big screen, watching with thousands of other drunk fans. Cheaper beer as well.

Being outside in that area right now isn't that great.  There sure as fuck aren't any people riding around on bicycles.  There's some homeless people who will play the harmonica for you if you're into that and you have a dollar.  Better pay to park in one of those $20 parking lots because if you park on the street, you might have a surprise when you come back.  The best restaurant in the city is ironically a good stretch away in the wasteland where the old baseball stadium was.  If you want to come visit, let me know, I'll give you the tour.

Ah shit, didn't know any of that was really built up yet. Thought that was part of the new arena plan. Well if anything, the pictures make it look great haha.

Looks really neat but with Detroit having financial problems, how will they afford to build it?
