Yes, I know the style isn't exactly the most beautiful looking right now, but I just want to punch this out as fast I can and get a decent write-up and explanation for every pick. Enjoy. Feel free to comment.

2010 NFL Mock Draft – March 30, 2010

1. St. Louis Rams - Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
The St. Louis Rams offensively have been one of the most horrid teams in recent memory. By picking Bradford, they begin to re-establish an offensive identity and potentially a very legitimate duo in the backfield. The Rams desperately need a lot of help, and Ndamukong Suh would most likely help on the defensive side of the ball, but the Rams need to get that face of the franchise gun-slinger who will immediately fill the seats.

2. Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT, Oklahoma
The Lions have to be singing and shouting when this scenario plays out for them. Selecting Suh brings and immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball, along with the singing of Vanden Bosch, creating a very tough defensive personality. The obvious discussion that looms large is the idea of the Lions wanting to get the franchise left-tackle to protect their franchise in Stafford. Okung is the obvious choice, however, the value for Okung at No. 2 overall is simply not there as many questions about technique still haven’t been answered. The Lions have also stated within media that they are happy with Jeff Backus moving forward, regardless of the injuries that he has suffered.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Tampa Bay could easily go many ways with this selection. They would possibly look at the likes of safety Eric Berry, and even possibly (with a solid pro day) a target like Dez Bryant. McCoy brings the stout, rigid interior that they need inside to deal with powerful running games that exist within their division including New Orleans and Carolina. Gerald McCoy has proven himself many times, and possesses a very rare skill set for defensive tackle being so athletic. Tampa Bay really bulks up, and gets tough in the running game with this pick.

4. Washington Redskins - Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
The Redskins have been one of the worst passing attacks in the NFL for the past few years now. This can be attributed to two key, main problems: quarterback and offensive Line. With the injury to Chris Samuels, the Redskins will most certainly have their eyes open for the next franchise left tackle. Now, let’s face it. Jason Campbell has shown little promise in his career thus far, and getting a talented player like Clausen who has run a very effective pro offense in college makes perfect sense. Clausen has many tools that will allow him to be very successful including great accuracy, and solid arm-strength which Jason Campbell has lacked in his time under center for Washington.

5. Kansas City Chiefs - Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
The Chiefs have a lot of flexibility with this pick, and will take a look at many defensive players in this spot. The most logical selection is the Volunteer standout Eric Berry. Safety has been a glaring need in a very weak pass defense in Kansas City. Eric Berry brings a physical presence that will allow him to be a help in the running game, as well as making big plays in the passing game, being the most complete safety in this draft. The value that the Chiefs get with Berry at No. 5 is absolutely superb.

6. Seattle Seahawks - Russell Okung, OT, Okla St.
With the loss of Walter Jones, the Seahawks are truly losing one of their biggest strengths of their team. This now instantly becomes a need. The Seahawks will look to replace Jones, with the very athletic prospect Okung out of Oklahoma State. Okung brings a lot of athletic skill, as well size but question marks about his technique loom large. With the right coaching in Seattle, Okung could fit in perfectly and allow protection for the future quarterback, Charlie Whitehurst.

7. Cleveland Browns - Joe Haden, CB, Florida
The Cleveland Browns have to understand that this is going to be another tough year of re-building. By selecting a premier and complete corner in Joe Haden from the University of Florida, they add a huge piece in an anemic defensive group. Haden has been questioned about his disappointing 40 yard dash at the combine, as well his size that seems to be a tad bit small. Haden made up for the 40, registering a 4.39 at the Florida Pro Day weeks ago. The doubts about his size have clearly been answered on tape, using his feisty and gritty game to make up for smaller frame.

8. Oakland Raiders - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
Always one of the most intriguing sub-plots of the NFL Draft is what Al Davis will do with his high selection. Al Davis goes and gets the definition of a “one-year wonder” in Jason Pierre-Paul. With one true year of production, there is definitely the chance that he possesses the bust potential. That simply doesn’t register in the mentality of the Raiders. They will fall in love with the speed he brings off the edge, and the need in which the Raiders have in getting a premier pass-rusher they feel will help them out a lot.

9. Buffalo Bills - Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The Bills have had many weaknesses the past few years, but none greater than not being able to protect who is taking snaps. The offensive line has been struggling largely and needs to upgrade at the left-tackle position since the departure of Jason Peters. The Bills need to establish an identity and get backing running the football; they will select Bryan Bulaga the best prospect on the board left at tackle. Bulaga brings a lot of strength and brute force that makes scouts drool. He showed last year that even with a very tragic thyroid condition, he could still play at a very high level.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
The problem with the Jaguars has been getting to the quarterback. In a division where Peyton Manning and the Colts rein kings, they must find the rush that can disrupt teams and get the opposing offense off the field. The addition of Aaron Kampman is definitely a good start for creating some problems for the opposition, but the possible addition of Morgan would do wonders. The Georgia Tech product brings uncanny burst off the line of scrimmage and a full array of athletic talent that will allow him to cause havoc on offensive lines in the NFL.

11. Denver Broncos - Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
The impressive start last season to this football team had many people in shock; however, the reason for their fall was their very unproductive defense. Denver must look for a defensive leader and they will find the best inside linebacker in this year’s draft. McClain comes from the battle-tested SEC conference where he battled many ferocious offensive attacks and led one of the best Alabama defenses in recent time. He can immediately provide a hard-hitting presence and sure tackling ability that the Broncos most certainly need at this time.

12. Miami Dolphins - Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
Perhaps one of the most intriguing and discussed prospects in the draft this year is the WR from Oklahoma State, Dez Bryant. Bryant notably was suspended most of last season, and constant red flags have been raised about his attitude and work ethic recently. However, Miami needs to find a No. 1 target as Ted Ginn and others will not cut it for them. The Dolphins will see that they must just be getting a top five talent at this spot who needs to be groomed into a legitimate threat. Scouts don’t necessarily know what a team will get with a Bryant – he has unlimited potential to be a productive wide-out or to flop and continue bad habits.

13. San Francisco 49’ers - Earl Thomas, S, Texas
In a class that holds one of the best true safeties’s to enter the draft in a long, long time, Earl Thomas has been constantly overshadowed. Being one of the most versatile safeties in the class, Thomas brings the athletic ability to be groomed even into a corner. San Francisco needs to add a missing piece to a secondary that needs a lot of help. Adding a playmaker like Earl Thomas will help largely in the turnover game as he has the ability to take the ball to the house other way on any passing play.

14. Seattle Seahawks - C.J Spiller, RB, Clemson
Ever since the selection of Chris Johnson in 2008, the “undersized” tailback in the league has been looked at in a different way. The Seahawks need to bolster their offense with a threat running the football, and the most talented running back is the way to do exactly that. Spiller brings dynamic ability to score in very ways, whether it’s running or catching the football, he can do it all.

15. New York Giants - Brian Price, DT, UCLA
The New York Giants need to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball at this selection. Price is just that and then some. Perhaps one of the most underrated talents in this year’s draft, Price brings a lot of intensity and strength to that defensive line in the middle. In his time at UCLA, Price has shown he can be a force in getting after the quarterback with a full array of moves, as well as a very valuable run stuffer. The Giants may in fact be getting one of the biggest steals in the draft with this selection.

16. Tennessee Titans - Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
This pick would be one of the biggest reaches in the draft other than the Oakland Raiders going with JP-P. This pick does make sense as the Titans have drafted largely on athletic ability in the past and this would not surprise me. With the departure of Vanden Bosch, the Titans need to get a player who could allow them to create a pass-rush; Dunlap may be the player who can do that. Dunlap has had a few off the field concerns, as well has been known to take plays off. He has shown though to be one of the premier defensive ends when brings his game and the Titans may fall in love with that.

17. San Francisco 49’ers - Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
Earlier in the draft, the 49’ers selected the player that could truly help in many ways on the defensive side of the ball. By selecting Iupati out of Idaho with their next pick, they may be getting one of the players with the most upside in this year’s draft. At Idaho, Iupati showed amazing strength and ability to drive his man back at the point of attack. A rough week at the Senior Bowl exposed his technique and showed that truly he was going to be a guard in the NFL. He may be a project that will have to work into the system a few years, but he truly he brings a very impressive skill-set to the table.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State
The Dick LeBeau led Pittsburgh defense was missing a large piece to the puzzle last year; a true No. 2 cornerback. The Steelers will get just that in Kyle Wilson from Boise. Wilson brings a boatload of potential with his size, awareness and excellent footwork. After an excellent week at the Senior Bowl shutting some of the best wide receivers completely out, he especially shined in the drills. Learning the complex system in Pittsburgh may be tough, but he could be the exact piece the Steelers need to regain that defense back to new heights in the area of pass coverage.

19. Atlanta Falcons - Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
Brandon Graham is most certainly one of the best defensive ends in this draft. He proved all year within a weak Michigan defense, that he was a worthy first round pick. Atlanta has no true pass-rusher and needs a large upgrade; Graham would be the ideal selection. He brings a good sized body for a pass-rusher as well as great strength. He clearly brings comparisons to former Michigan Wolverine and now Pittsburgh Steeler Lamarr Woodley. This would be the absolute dream scenario for the Falcons moving forward as a team with this selection.

20. Houston Texans - Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St.
The Texans are fresh off their recent 9-7 winning season, where they however failed to make the playoffs. One of the large areas of concern coming down the stretch for Houston was their lack of running attack. Steve Slaton has showed some promise certainly, however, the Texans must realize that in this day and age in the National Football League, dual running back combos are the way to go. Selecting Ryan Matthews out of Fresno St, they are getting the perfect complement to apply with Steve Slaton in the backfield. Matthews brings a lot of tough running, and great football IQ. The knock on Matthews is his lack of pass blocking and lack of ability in the passing game in general. Slaton brings exactly the element they love in the passing game, but missing out on the skills Ryan Matthews comes with.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Many analysts have the Bengals looking for another pass target for Palmer and the Bengals at this spot. That being said, it won’t be another wide receiver. The Bengals have drafted the likes of Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell with fairly high selections and must be high still on the potential those two can bring to the team. The Bengals have never truly had a very talented, big tight end with a pair of hands like Gresham has. Gresham is a large body, who can go up and get the football like very few. He reminds scouts of Antonio Gates in his body type, and ability to make plays like a wide receiver. An unhealthy 2009 season, and some questions on his ability in the running game as a blocker will allow the Oklahoma product to drop this far to the Bengals.

22. New England Patriots - Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
The glaring weakness in Bill Belichick’s defense last season was the clear lack of pass rush to force the opposing quarterback into mistakes. Many close games this past season for the Patriots, especially the Colts thriller, was made possible for the other team to get back by throwing the football with large amounts of time. Bill Belichick has always respected Muschamp the Texas defensive co-ordinator, and with this selection, he gets arguably the most impressive Texas stand-out on defense. Kindle brings great size and versatility that projects to be a top flight pass-rusher in the 3-4 scheme the Patriots know and love.

23. Green Bay Packers - Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
One of the most embarrassing things about the Green Bay Packers last year, was their lack of pass protection. Especially in key situations, like against the hated Vikings on Monday Night Football, when they could not keep any pass-rush away from signal caller Aaron Rodgers. With this pick, Trent Williams provides a nice cushion to go along side the recent re-signings of Mark Tauscher and Chad Clifton. Williams has shown flashes of greatness in his career with Oklahoma, and brings a lot of flexibility in where he can help on the offensive line for the Packers. Selecting Williams allows a ferocious offense attack, to even get more time to dissect and pick apart defenses.

24. Philadelphia Eagles - Taylor Mays, S, USC
The Eagles as a team may currently be dealing with the problems of choosing what quarterback is the future. They must also bulk and add to their secondary, by getting the hard-hitting, powerful talent out of Southern Cal in Taylor Mays, it does just that. Mays has been questioned about his lack of pass coverage skills and as well his lack of ball skills, but teams have fallen in love with his sheer size and power that allows him to punish the man with the football. The Eagles, who need help in their secondary, will see that if groomed properly, Mays can bring a complete whole dimension to their football team, especially in the running game.

25. Baltimore Ravens - Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers
In Baltimore, one thing is quite vividly clear. The problems at cornerback need to be addressed. The secondary was what broke down in the critical times in the playoffs, and ultimately led to their exit. McCourty from Rutgers can step in for the Ravens and immediately show some promise. He brings a lot of grit coming out of Rutgers, and after some very impressive showings from the Senior Bowl, many scouts have loved the way he handles himself and feel he is one heck of a talented football player. This pick is exactly where the Ravens must go to address the most glaring need on the football field, being the cornerback position.

26. Arizona Cardinals - Charles Brown, OT, USC
As the Cardinals begin to look at their draft board, they must clearly see that time to select a premier tackle is now. As the Cardinals as a whole begin to transition their team with the departures of Kurt Warner and Anquan Boldin, they must sure up the offensive line. Charles Brown is the best pure, franchise made tackle left on the board at this selection. He brings a lot of potential and needs to be groomed, but he has enormous upside at the position in the future for the Cardinals. They realize that the strong point of their team, is still the weapons that remain on offense, why not help out your future in young quarterback Matt Leinart?

27. Dallas Cowboys - Nate Allen, S, South Florida
Many Cowboys may be shaking their head at this selection, but the need to address the safety position is clearly on in Dallas. Ken Hamlin is clearly coming to an end in the department of coverage, and therefore the need will be addressed with this selection. Nate Allen brings the ability to excel in coverage and as well very solid and sound technique. He may be overshadowed in a very strong class like this year’s safeties, but he shall be in the mix come draft day.

28. San Diego Chargers - Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
A huge slide for many of Dan Williams based on his amazing upside to excel in the 3-4 at the DT spot. However, I feel that Chargers may in fact absolutely hit the lottery with this selection. The Chargers after cutting Jamal Williams must solidify the middle with a project who might just in fact be more than the answer in Williams. The potential for the kid from Tennessee to exceed in a 3-4 is off the charts. He will fill the void in the defensive tackle the Chargers must so desperately address immediately.

29. New York Jets - Jerry Hughes, OLB, TCU
Easily the reason why the Jets want far in the playoffs last year was because of their phemenonal and stout defense. The only thing lacking on that defense, was a true compliment in the rush department besides Calvin Pace. Hughes from Texas Christian University is just that. He is very raw as a pass rusher still, but he possesses the size and speed necessary to excel as a 3-4 OLB. I look for Hughes to continue to pursue in adding new moves to his game and to develop into a threat in a very structured system that Rex Ryan operates in New York.

30. Minnesota Vikings - Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State
Rumblings out of Minnesota are that Cedric Griffin will require a hefty process to recover from a terrible ACL tear suffered in the NFC Championship game. Minnesota now must go after the crucial need for a cornerback, and they must select the best available after the likes of Wilson and McCourty are gone. Patrick Robinson makes perfect sense, as he brings very vital experience and a large football I.Q to the table for the Vikings. He has made an impact on struggling Florida State defenses over the span of his collegiate career and has continually stood out for the Seminoles.

31. Indianapolis Colts - Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State
The Colts need to sure up and solidify the middle of their defensive line. They have tried in the past, but they just haven’t found the right versatile player to fit the mold. Odrick is the exact player that they would need. He brings a lot of athletic ability and amazing strength for his size that allows him to fight off blocks and find the ball carrier. Over his career at Penn State, much of the defensive success was attributed to others on the football field around him, but truly he was one of the unsung heroes on the defensive side of the football for the Nittany Lions. This selection will do wonders for the Colts defense as a whole, as they continue to move forward and establish an identity of a team that is tough to run the football against consistently.

32. New Orleans Saints - Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
When the Super Bowl Champions step up to draft and it is their turn, their eyes must be completely lighting up. One of the most premier outside linebacker’s still remains on the board, and this pick would allow them to completely solidify their issues at the position. Weatherspoon brings a lot of intensity and pure instincts that make for deadly intentions with the combination of mastermind Gregg Williams. He has shown over his career that he can track down the ball carrier and wrap up, rarely missing many tackles. The product of out of Missouri must continue to show on a consistent basis he brings his top performances. A lack of size may in return hurt his draft stock causing the Saints to find this possible gem with the 32nd selection in the NFL Draft.

Too high for JPP...although I wouldn't put it past the Raiders to make the pick. I like Robinson going to the Vikes...although I just doubt it unfolds that way.

Blake - Yeah, I kind of like to follow the draft. :) Don't hate. McCoy is an excellent addition if it works out for you, you just don't realize it.

AE - Again, it's Oakland, like you said yourself. JP-P brings a dominate year under his belt, and amazing athleticism. Can you say Al Davis pick? I think personally it depends on the Ravens and which corner they select, whether it's McCourty or Robinson with which one you end up with. Robinson would be an excellent addition to the Vikings roster.

I wanna know what the hell ever happened to George Selvie?

I mean dude was a clear first-rounder last season and has fallen off the face of the earth it seems.

Poor work ethic, terrible production last season and the arise of the hype train of JP-P.

I'm sorry, but Selvie was one of the hardest workers on that team. I asked Tom Zebold, USF beat writer, he told me "The only reason that Selvie isn't all-that anymore is because people double-and-triple team him -- allowing JPP to go nearly unblocked.

That clearly makes sense. The emergence of JP-P had to have been with the fact that Selvie took up a lot of respect. But even still, he had very minimal production, and that is concerning. As well, I've heard numerous times that Selvie takes plays off and doesn't always give it his all.

Who doesn't though?

If you know a play is a run to the right, why bust your ass if you're the left tackle?

Just saying.

Robinson would make the much better Tampa 2 corner. I like to think that we'd have our choice once the pick rolls around. The news on Griffin is getting worse by the day & we have a much bigger need at CB than DT or OT.

That's not exactly what it means. I noticed that Rey Mauluaga took numerous plays off when I watched him against teams in his USC days. I was one of the people who were very skeptical and unsure of him, being a hot-head and giving up on plays. Lots of times, he would put very minimal effort to get back to the other side of the field after a ball carrier for a receiver catching say a screen. NFL scouts want to see a guy who is constantly hustling when they are going to be investing millions of dollars.

AE - I agree with that. McCourty may in the end be the more talented CB, but Robinson is no slouch at all for a Cover 2 defense like you run in Minnesota. Being a person who goes to at least one Viking game a season, I hope that Robinson can add that other dimension to you guys on the defensive side of the ball. :) Should be fun to watch.

.titan - Wasn't sure what you were getting at man. :p But yes that is true, Winnipeg boys get it done. Hah.

Very true, but everyone gives up on plays.

It happens -- I guarantee you no matter what the say every player in the NFL Hall of Fame has given up on plays or half-assed a play more than once in there day.

Blake - Okay, you are misunderstanding my point. :p Of course it will happen - it's when it happens to much, that's when it becomes a clear issue man. i.e) In Selvie's case, many people have gotten on him before about it and I've read that's why he's dropped like a stone.

AE - Yeah, I'll try and enter that for sure. Looks like a cool little thing. I'm writing for a site right now, (don't wanna post the name and get in crap or something) so I will have to see. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
