David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday the hockey club has signed forward David Booth to a one-year contract.

Booth, 29, played 66 games for the Vancouver Canucks in 2013-14, collecting nine goals, 10 assists, 19 points and 18 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 212-pound winger has registered 218 career NHL points (113 goals, 105 assists) and 181 penalty minutes in 443 games with the Canucks and Florida Panthers. In 2008-09 with the Panthers, Booth set career highs in goals (31), assists (29) and points (60) in 72 games.

Damn good price for Boothe and a good signing for Toronto. Wish the Rangers got him at that price.

Apparently his advanced puck possession stats are good, so I'm all for it. We need to get on the Corsi/Fenwick bandwagon.

I'll do my research on it for sure.

I use sabermetrics so much to gauge how well an MLB/MILBer's doing. Might as well learn advance hockey stats.

It all has to do with the number of shots attempted while you're on the ice and shit. I want to understand it better.

Apparently some analytics are trying to develop a WAR for the NHL.

Implementing advanced stats in hockey is a step in the right direction for sure. I can't wait to listen to old farts like Don Cherry bash it once it gains a little more popularity throughout the league.
