He may have won the offseason years back, but he is certianly screwing a lot of players this time around.

Greg Holland (Boras client) turned down a $52 million dollar deal over three years to pitch for the Rockies and they instead paid the same to Wade Davis who is now one of the highest paid closers in the game.

It also didn't occur to me that JD martinez is 30 years old.  If you're trying to get him over $200 million at that age when the player has only one 40+ homerun season, then you're digging for stats that aren't there.  Even $150 million is pushing it with those numbers and yet Martinez is still idle because Boras thinks he can get him more.

It's not that these guys are overpaid (they are, but it's not all that), it's agents like Boras who are screwing everyone in the market.  To then have the nerve to take it out on the MLB teams for not ponying up money is outrageous.

Boras is an idiot.  He's screwing players.  He's screwing the game.  Hopefully he finally gets exposed this time around.

Please change topic title from "Boars" to "Boras" (my typo).

Boras is doing no such thing.  He works for his clients and it's his clients saying they want more.

As do many agents, but the myth that Boras controls things is blatantly false.  His biggest clients routinely "push" Boras around.

But he outwardly said it was the owner's fault for guys not getting signed when his contract offers are beyond unreasonable.

And the reason we are in the slow off-season mess is because of Boras.

The reason why we are in this slowness is a poor FA class butting up a tremendous FA class.  A penalty line that the big spenders are avoiding.  Many teams going to rebuild models instead of buying their way to a playoff spot.

Not seeing anything about Boras there.

I don't think the FA class is that bad... I've seen worse. Next year is just so great in terms of free agency... That being said, if the players were asking for reasonable prices, they would be on a team by now.

Many teams do not like to deal with Boras, as he regularly asks for higher than market value for his clients.  He does, according to Carlos Pena, listen to the player's desires, but attempts to oversell his clients a lot.  In the case of JD Martinez, I believe this to be the case.  JD is not a young ballplayer any more and he is a poor defender.  His best asset is his bat, and he is limited to DH and possibly a couple of games in RF a week.
Yes the Red Sox do need a big bat to hit a few homers, but at what cost?  $25MM/year for a DH/part time outfielder seems a bit steep.
