Wasn't Tanaka able to avoid it?

Good point, he did. I forget how long he was out though.

1 out of how many?

Either way, he's going to have to get super lucky.

thank god we still have a deep fucking rotation

Sale - Porcello - Wright - ERod - Pomeranz
I wouldn't say deep outside of Sale and Porcello, and honestly I still don't even trust Porcello to repeat his 2016 campaign numbers.

But are they all assets? That's what matters in Boston sports.

Are you assuming Price will decline?

I think he meant Porcello is a regression candidate.

Could be wrong though.

PS. Wright- ERod- Pomeranz is not a reliable back end of the rotation.

Porcello isn't a regression candidate, he's a regression certainty.

Yeah I mean Porcello as a regression candidate. Price's injury is going to be more than 7-10 days. It's going to be one of those injuries that drags on and no one really knows what's up. There are actually so many more question marks to this team than people realize.

Can jbj duplicate last year?

Third base is a hole. Like a massive one.

Will benintendi be able to perform for a full year? How about against lefties?

Catchers... Leon is not gonna babip .370 plus or whatever it was again. There are pitchers that hit better than Vazquez. People still hope Swihart is something.

Price has already seen his peak come and go. This is case study number 100 in Boston a lone of why you don't hand out massive free agency deals. Especially to pitchers in their thirties.

Hanley will DH versus RHP, and play 1B versus LHP.
We signed Mitch Moreland to play 1B but he's ass versus lefties, so we'll probably have Chris Young or someone DH against LHP

Yeah young will for sure DH against lefties. Dude absolutely rakes against lefties. Unless Benintendi is struggling against lefties, Young will probably play the outfield and platoon with Benintendi there.

As many questions as you have, I believe there will be many surprises as answers.  There will be some players you won't expect to do well, so don't rule them all out.  Things will average out.

As for pitching, I was never a fan of Porcello, but I don't think he'll regress that much.  ERA around 3.80 possibly.

I think Price won't be as bad as last year.  His career numbers are too good to repeat that.  Of course, this is as long as the injury gets resolved.

I think JBJ will be similar to last year and Benintendi should be fine.

You can throw Rutledge in the mix against lefties.  I personally think he's highly underrated and will get playing time.  I think he could basically be the right handed Brock Holt if he gets the time to play.  I wouldn't rule him out and him and Holt are 3B options as well.

Porcello is an obvious regression candidate. His ERA will be near 4.00 this season. I would be worried about Price, the injury was supposed to be a week and now it's been about 3. Safe to assume he won't pitch in ST

Porcello winning the Cy Young was a complete joke.
