I like him a little higher than where I pegged him at, but not quite up to 16. He was gaining steam for a minute there but now it seems like as scouts really dig into him he's losing some of that. Think some of it has to do with scouts wanting to see an advanced array of skills for a guy that's a little older (21), when in fact he plays more like an 18 or 19 year old.bosoxlover12 said:Also you rate Luwawu really low. I'd take him at 16
He's certainly extremely talented, he has an NBA ready body, and he has some good traits that could make him go as high as third.bosoxlover12 said:Very true points about the IQ and intelligence aspect. I'm not a huge Jamal Murray fan either -- he seems like a less explosive Eric Gordon to me.
My guy is actually Jaylen Brown. Great wingspan, super athletic, and shows great defensive promise. He's one of, if not, the smartest players in the entire draft and someone that I assure Brad Stevens would love to coach.
The main criticism behind Jaylen is his shooting ability. He doesn't have a bad form at all -- just not the highest percentages from deep. I credit that to the retarded Cal offense that ran a one guard, three wing, one big lineup at a super slow pace. Jaylen was the "PF" in that offense, and due to that he often had much taller PFs in his face while running outside shooting concepts, which disrupts shooting percentages. I see him as a SF, even a SG at times, and he wont face that problem nearly as often. He won't be a great shooter, but he won't be much worse of a shooter than Jae Crowder is, and the kid has hops.
There isn't a superstar at #3 overall, so I like to go with the safer option who can contribute really well. He's got a ton of length, and we need wings on this team. We have Jae starting -- but outside of that? Turner is a FA (who will be overpaid, not by us), and I don't trust James Young or RJ Hunter playing key defense on the wing. Unless the plan is to make Smart a permanent SF (which is silly), we need wings.
Jaylen's my guy.
I'm going to be livid if come draft night Jamal Murray is still on the board and we pass over him for Denzel. But I tried to pick based off what that particular team would do. It goes back to what I said with Boston, this franchise honestly believes the 4-8 seed is open in the West and they want to win now, and they'll hurt themselves 5 years down the line to do it. They want guys they can coach. There are well connected local media saying the Pels draft board is something like, 1) Hield, 2) Dunn, 3) Trade, 4) Valentine. Hield and Dunn were off the board, and I didnt project trades.CameronCrazy06 said:Denzel Valentine at 6? To your own team? Don't do that to yourself haha.
Also think you're too low on Malachi and maybe too high on Brogdon but I could see a playoff team going for him
