Its hard to say. He wouldnt have been able to prevent that header. I thought Egypt made the right call in playing defensively and going for 1 point. Perhaps they couldve left a sub open but even then, he wouldve had like 6 minutes to find a goal. Plus, you never even really saw him warming up on the sidelines. I feel like it was always planned for him to sit here and save him for Russia, where theyll need all 3 points

For me, it was a no-brainer. If Salah is ready to play in the WC, then he needs to be subbed in. His presence alone would be a jolt for his teammates. You play better when you know you have a guy like that on your team. It elevates the play of everyone. Hard to explain, but it just does. No team should be playing for one point in that opening match. Not if you want to advance. Now Egypt has to hope that Uruguay can take care of business with Russia, otherwise they are dead in the water.

Not bringing on Salah was a big mistake. That game could not have played out any better for Egypt. They were so lucky to be in it at the end. Salah could have been the spark necessary to steal a point, or even 3.

I missed most of the Spain/Portugal due to a family trip to see the Incredibles. I will watch the re-air later tonight.
Couldnt have said it better. Put him on in the 70th for an offensive spark ... even a point would have been huge and probably would push Egypt through.

Rivera is the man. His free kick call is absurd

That winning goal was a rough one to let in for Tunisa's goalie
