Kris Humphries Doesn't Want To Be Part Of 'Tanking Situation'
Sep 13, 2013 1:49 PM EDT

Kris Humphries has spent the summer working on his game and says he is ready "to compete for a big role" on his new team, the Boston Celtics.

Humphries has heard talk that the Celtics are trying to tank next season, but he does not want to be part of that situation and does not believe that is where Boston is headed.
"
I'm not looking to be a part of a tanking situation," Humphries said. "I know that [president of basketball operations] Danny Ainge has said that they're not looking to tank, and I'm sure Brad Stevens coming in is definitely not looking to do that. So it's just about competing and bringing it every night. We're going to have to figure out ways to win and continue to get better, and it starts with camp."

Humphries is motived by the fact no one considers the Celtics as part of the Eastern Conference contenders.
"We're out to try to prove that we're a team that can compete every night, and whenever people sort of write you off, it's a lot of motivation," he said.

Kris Humphries: "I want to sit on the bench, to be worthless, for a contender."

tbh, I don't think we are trying to tank. We might suck this year, but with Green and Rondo, Bradley's D, Olynyk's shooting, and a solid bench, we will probably be an average/above average team. Plus Stevens is someone who is known to get the most out of his team

It's easier to motivate unpaid college athletes

Not saying Stevens is going to fail or anything, I think he'll be succesful, but motivating millionaires who know their team sucks, is hard.
