Thanks, I feel like I've taken a much different approach in my writing. I try to report on what happens and how it happens than using plain stats to tell a story.

I can kind of see a different style in your writing man. It looks nice and it is effective. You have a way of getting to the point quickly, but also being very catchy at the same time.

Indeed, I tried to use the line "laid the wood" in a recent story; however, it was edited out.

I'm finding it harder now though working for an online only media outlet (Patch).

I was taught to cut the <Censored> and get to the <Censored>ing point, and that's what works for me, now they want 600-800 words and all I can seem to muster up is 500.

Nevertheless, I've been reading a lot of ESPN stuff trying to get a feel for how to extend my stories and use some form of sarcasm in each article. I just cut out the whole hype thing

That's a huge difference in word count. Most people don't realize. You'll have to teach me some of those techniques, haha, as that is what I want to do, as well.
