Andrelton Simmons is being discussed in trade deals

I would seriously trade one of our big arms for him, that dude saves so many runs a year its unfathomable

Angles traded their top two prospects for simmons, plus aybar
Still dont have a 2b, lf, dh/1b, cleanup hitter, catcher

Simmons is an upgrade from aybar, but aybar is a damn good ss himself its not a huge upgrade

Just seems like a waste of resources

There is value in his defense obviously but that seems like a lot for someone who provides nothing offensively

I like the trade for the Angels, Aybar is an average SS who isnt a great hitter himself in comparison to Simmons.

Simmons himself has regressed with the bat, but his defense makes up for it so much. I guess I just value defense by the SS position a lot.

overpay
Not a great allocation of resources imo

There's plenty of all glove no bat ss. Yes i understand simmons is good. Dont get me wrong. 3 win player without offense is mighty great

But yeah

Apparently the Jays are going to give a contract offer to Grienke

It has to be larger than a blank check to outbid the Dodgers

Lol for sure. Apparently the budget is going to be larger than last years though so that's kind of encouraging

Shapiro probably has no intentions of trying to outbid teams with unlimited payrolls

The way the league has qualifying offers set up is really dumb, and hurts mid level players. The draft pick compensation shouldn't be taking away first rounders. If you want to compensate them with picks, just add it to the end of the round like they use to do.

Idk if correa was eligible or not. X was definitely the best hitting SS not named Correa last year so it wasn't that ridiculous

No way Margot and Guerra needed to be in the same deal for Kimbrel.

This better not end up being Hanrahan and Bailey 3.0
