Joakim Noah could face league discipline after directing a profanity followed by an anti-gay slur toward a fan Sunday during the first quarter of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Noah, an extremely emotional player, drew his second foul at the 6-minute, 26-second mark, sending the Bulls starter to the bench. There, TNT cameras caught Noah turning to the crowd and using the same slur that the Lakers' Kobe Bryant directed at official Bennie Adams during the regular season.

"I got caught up," Noah said. "A fan said something. And I said something back. I apologize."

The NBA fined Bryant $100,000 for that incident and issued a strongly worded rebuke from Commissioner David Stern.
Have to beware of the cameras nowadays.

Maybe it's my overall issue with semantics and all that but, to me, that word isn't "anti-gay", it's just offensive.

SMH.

No, this is not OK, especially in the society we live in.. But I can't stand these getting bombarded with so much heat after they say this kind of thing.

It's battle, it's the heat of the moment and athletes who are competing are going to say shit.

i understand that people get offended. i dont say those words, i dont like how people say those types of words to take the place of stupid or whatever. but other people, most people these days even grown adults recognize those words with two meanings. the only reason the athletes will get fined and whatever are because their famous.

all and all, its stupid that people make such a big deal over this, really.

He said it to a fan? Like really? lol.
You are big and bad calling a fan a name, when you are probably twice his size.

And I'm sure the fan said nothing to him in the first place...

Noah probably just turned around and said "fuck you <Censored>" for no reason...

He said, it was the heat of the moment, fan said something to him, he reacted.

Who gives a fuck? If this makes Noah a jackass, the NBA most be filled of them.

Maybe if retarded fans like this guy and the idiots in Detroit that started the brawl didn't interact with the players, we wouldn't have situations like this. Just because you pay out your ass for tickets, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.

You are suppose to ignore the fans lol.
Is calling a fan a vulgar name suppose to make Noah feel good about himself?

Obviously Noah was wrong, he shouldn't have reacted that way, but it was the heat of the moment thing that he got caught up in. He was sitting down after picking up two quick fouls and was pissed at himself. Obviously he didn't need any extra comments from some idiot fan.

I don't think anyone said calling a fan a "vulgar name" was suppose to make Noah feel good about himself? LOL Not sure what your point is...

If you think Noah is a jackass for this, then you should probably never sit courtside at a game, because you'll probably think the NBA is full of jackasses then by the way they talk.

Noah got screwed cause he got caught on tape, end of discussion.

My point is you backed up my statement that Noah is a jackass. As is Kobe.

And it's different if it isn't directed at a fan/ref.

So fans can say whatever they want to players just because they pay thousands of dollars for seats?

Have you ever been to an NBA game? Have you not heard the message played before every game? That kind of talk from fans is suppose to not be acceptable. Fan should of been ejected, Noah should have been fined, but to single out Noah as the "jackass" in this situation is stupid. You act like this never happens. Players talk shit to fans all the time.

Lmao yes you can. Cause really, what could this fan of said? I highly doubt the dude threatened Noah's life. He probably called him a little bitch, or an ugly fuck. Which happens frequently in the NBA, I heckle whenever I go to games as well. But instead of being a jackass and calling the fan a name, why don't you quit playing like a moron and show the fan via your game, instead of calling him a name.

Really, I don't see how you can defend that he is not a jackass after using a gay slur on a fan. Really just read that over a few times...
