They're wasting their time if it needs to be done and they're trying to go around it.  That is just paying the guy and wasting time and money.

He looks so good this spring I wouldn't be surprised if the Yanks are less cautious this season and it happens.

So he'll lose this year and next year and come back at 33 for spring training 2019. Great investment.

Price doesn't seem like the type of guy to cause problems in the clubhouse. And if the fans are gonna turn on him for his comments about a shitty broadcaster, then maybe he has a reason to be angry.

I guess the big stories havent really been made too public outside of boston, but ive been listening to boston sports radio every day. here's really what happened

-----

Back nearly one month ago, Dennis Eckersley was critical of Price for, among others, not covering first base on a big play and taking overly-long deliberated time in between pitches. Wasn't an attack of Price, but was just kinda mocking him "Here's a deep breath, and another deep breath... and now a spit here, one more breath... and the pitch". Also accused Price of shaking off the first pitch from the catcher to throw off the batter, but then cycling through the other pitches because that first signal was what he wanted to throw. It was critical, but hardly malicious.

Later in the game, they showed E-Rod's stats in his rehab start in AAA: 3 innings, 9 hits, 5 runs. And Eck replied to that graphic by responding with "yuck". And according to Price's public statement, that was his justification for what he would do on the team plane shortly after.

Eck gets on the plane, and Price is just waiting for him. "Here he is — the greatest pitcher who ever lived! This game is easy for him! Get the fuck out of here!” And all because he said "yuck" to Rodriguez's awful rehab start, according to David Price.

Price is soft as fuck emotionally. He can't handle Boston's media harping on him, and it results in poor play by him. There's no way Price was that pissed off because of what Eck said about Rodriguez, it's clearly about what he said about David. And you know who has the right to critique a pitcher? Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley.

---

You think its coincidence that the team announces today that Price is going on a 10-day DL, retroactive to Monday, just hours before he's supposed to start at Fenway Park in front of a very angry crowd? We've gone 2-8 in our last 10 games that Chris Sale hasn't pitched in, and Price would 100% be booed tonight. They clearly just pushed him so he wouldn't be starting the 10 game homestand here. He'll pitch next week against Chicago most likely, or maybe they even hold him out until the road series next Tuesday.

But this is not a coincidence at all. Like, the Sox put Pablo Sandoval on the DL for an "ear infection" and then cut him when he came off the DL. This "elbow soreness" is the same -- its a temporary break from the club

I heard the story the other day on high heat. It's an interesting hypothesis by you. You really think he'd get booed?

He would get booed for sure if he didn't pitch well. Obviously if he did well then he'd be fine, but we're facing the Royals who are on an 8 game win streak and outscoring their opponent by +38 over those 8 games (and are up 4-1 right now). He'd mostly likely do no better than Porcello is doing today, and yeah probably get booed.

I think its clearly intentional that he's not pitching tonight, and was placed on the 10 day DL retroactively four days earlier (so a 6 day DL really, basically meaning he skips 1-2 starts). I think its because they were scared of him not playing up to pressure (he's been awful in his career in pressure-laden games), while others like Jim Murray of 98.5 The Sports Hub (Boston's main sports radio) thinks its Farrell punishing him for his public actions against Eck. But still in agreement that there is no real injury.

John Farrell says that Price is going to be "holding a baseball in three days or so", so clearly his elbow soreness can't be THAT bad that he's able to throw a baseball around come Monday. Like he probably does have a sore elbow, but no more sore than other pitchers in the league and no more sore than two weeks ago when he pitched well against the Yankees and nobody had any questions about elbow soreness.
