The Redskins have released Chris Cooley.

Cooley would like to continue his career, but admitted it would be difficult playing for a new team.

“I’ll take some time and make sure what I do in the future is exactly what I want to do,” Cooley said.
Fred Davis will start for the Redskins at tight end and the team is giving Cooley an opportunity to start elsewhere.

“I think he’s earned that right,” Mike Shanahan said.
Shanahan said the Redskins could re-sign Cooley if he is unable to find a job starting elsewhere.

I think he still has a few solid years left, he'll be playing for someone this season.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't picked up by someone during the season. Actually, he'd probably even be picked up before the season starts.

Was one of the best TE's and one of my favorites for a good bit of time, I'm sure he'll find a good spot somewhere. I'd love to see him team up with Finley in Green Bay personally but probably a better fit out there
