Rudy Gay has been leaning on friends within the NBA to help him get through recent trade speculation, and Rajon Rondo is one player he has relied on.

Still, Rondo has said in their conversations that he'd like to see Gay on the Boston Celtics.

“It’s hard to talk to [Rondo] because he is always saying, ‘We need you over here. We need you over here,’” Gay said. “So it’s not easy talking to him. But he’s being a friend, just telling me about keeping everything together and he makes you feel like you are still valuable.”

Pierce would still be there

It would be like Sullinger, Bradley, Green, Bass, and a future 1st for Gay

Would they try to start Rudy at the 2 guard? He can't come off the bench for more than the few games needed to get acquainted with their system.

My guess would be PP at the 2. I really hope they don't get him though lol

might as well put Rudy at the 4 and leave Bradley at the 2

I assume Boston will make a deal for a big (Lee+Wilcocks for Dally)

Also from what I'm hearing is sully wont go due to his production. Highest +/- on the team.

What I'd expect if we traded for Dalembert and Gay:

Lose Fab Melo, 1st, Bradley, Green, Bass, Lee, Wilcox, get Gay&Dally

Then we would sign some guys as FAs. Joseph and Varnado would be back probably. Sign Shelvin Mack, Micah Downs off of the DL.

It would be Dally-KG-Gay-Pierce-Rondo as the starting 5, with JET substituting Dally for the late 4th type situations. For our starting 5, basically Pierce would take the worse of Gay+Paul's matchup defensively.

Yep, that was fun

I'm laughing at the prospect of Paul Pierce defending two guards, though. He does not have the speed.

Meh, how many relevant two guards are left in the NBA though? DWade, Kobe, ....? Most playoff teams (especially in the East) don't have quick SGs.

Shit.

Danny might be trading Pierce. Only $4 of his $15 is guaranteed next year. There have been reports he'd be moved

A Gay for Pierce base deal makes sense for both teams really. Pierce still is a high impact player, and can help Memphis this year, and wouldn't be hard to cut that next year.

Obviously we would have to add, but still
