This guy isn't the most reliable source but he did report all the Kenta Maeda details days before major news outlets did.

He tweeted this ^ yesterday and has since said on his podcast, the Cubs want Chapman & Miller and are prepared to send back a hefty return.

Wouldn't surprise me. Adding one of them as the primary closer would be huge.

Anyone who has to pimp the fact that they broke news first is a hack

I don't care if Theo has to let the entire Yankees farm system f-ck his wife to make the deal for Chapman. You're an MLB legend to break the Boston title streak and then do the same in Chicago. You do what it takes Cubbies.

They don't need to make any moves to win the world series. They're clearly the best team in the league

The Cubs do need another reliable RP to make it thru the season. Their rotation has been phenomenal, but that isn't going to hold up 162 games. With Grimm and Richard struggling another option is a must.

Best team doesn't win the world series....the hottest team in October does.

Cubs don't need another closer. They could use a good 8th inning guy like Will Smith tho

Any team can get better.  They could be the 2001 Mariners and still lose in the postseason.  If you have a deal that will give you more wins, you do it.  Basic logic.

But that doesn't mean you need to overreact and overpay for a reliever like AE suggested

Wow that escalated quickly.

If the Cubs got Chapman, they would go from great to unstoppable.

You do when you haven't won a title in the turn of the century. And if the Cubs don't, you best believe their fellow WS contenders will overpay to acquire enough arms to beat them.
